At Angelico Sacred Music, we value all types of beautiful Christian music, and we encourage the faithful to enjoy and pray with all of them in the proper setting. We believe a strong Catholic prayer life must include Christian music, and it must include multiple genres of Christian music as well.

Concurrently, ASM was founded to fill a gap in the sacred music landscape by creating Neo-Renaissance-style settings of popular Catholic prayers--sacred texts that many millions of Catholics know--and setting them to English lyrics.

Accordingly, ASM does not create Latin, classical settings of texts that have already been composed in Latin numerous times, nor do we compose hymns or praise and worship music, of which a voluminous amount already exists. Further, we have no plans to write a Mass setting, as numerous Masses in both Latin and English have already been created.

 

Angelico Sacred Music believes the creation of polyphonic musical art, set in our own English language and rooted in classical music theory, is an unfulfilled ideal of the Second Vatican Council. We hope to add a newfound beauty to the Church's treasury of sacred music by addressing this need, and we pray that in laboring to fill this gap, the hearts and minds of more composers will be turned to do the same.
