Cathedral in Sound
The collection of ASM's musical art is designed to create a "cathedral in sound." The analogy of a cathedral fittingly describes our artistic project for several reasons.
A cathedral is a large masterpiece, composed of numerous pieces of interior and exterior art. It takes many years to build and decorate. Unlike private art, a cathedral is a work of beauty that can be enjoyed by the rich and poor alike, free of cost.
The same can be said for Angelico Sacred Music's corpus of musical art, which we started in 2024. It is not merely a random collection of pieces, but works of art that, with The Angelico Style, belong together, as pieces of stained glass within a cathedral clearly match each other.
Further, a cathedral is a piece of art that stands long after its architects and builders are gone. Likewise, ASM is distinguished from sacred music groups focused on trainings, performances, or conferences, because once we create this musical art, it will remain in being for the rest of time. Completed with the help of prayers and donations from a voluminous number of people over many years, our cathedral in sound will stand as a monumental work of art that we can admire together, and that we have created together, for the glory of the Church.
